Karen Lange
Karen Lange, Co-Artistic Director

Karen is proud to be an actor, singer, improviser, and producer. Credits: Carol's Christmas, Cabaret XXX: Les Femmes Fatales, Be Here Now and Freakshow (Pinky Swear Productions), Life with Father (American Century Theater),  Unintended Consequences (Senior Moments Theater), House of Blue Leaves (Dominion Stage), Wonder of the World (Port City Playhouse), Hay Fever (Rockville Little Theater). Karen has been performing with Washington Improv Theater's iMusical, since 2006, performing in over 125 shows. She is also part of the DC/NY musical improv troupe Vox Pop, who can be seen in festivals around the country. Other favorite improvisational projects include POTUS Among Us, WIRT, and Seasonal Disorder. One of her films, The Bad News Bearer, which she co-wrote and performed in, won a script award and the Best Picture prize at the DC 48-Hour film festival in 2008. Karen is a graduate of the Studio Theater Conservatory. She teaches improvisation and musical improvisation at Washington Improv Theater.

Allyson Harkey
Allyson Harkey, Co-Artistic Director

Allyson was last seen swinging a sword in Taffety Punk’s all-female Romeo & Juliet and slapping a guy in Dominion Stage’s Fat Pig. Other recent favorites: New York White (Rorschach Theatre's Myth-Appropriation IV), Crestfall (u/s, Studio Theatre 2ndStage), Debbie Does Dallas (Landless Theatre Company), Of Mice and Men (Vpstart Crow), True West (Forward Artists Collective), Assassins (Laurel Mill Playhouse), Company (Kensington Arts Theatre), Big Green Door (Silver Spring Stage). Film: Buona Notte Bella and Oh, Jesus! (Con Chocolate), Dodge (Cardiff Giant), Hearts (Dir.: Robert Walters).

Toni Rae Brotons
Toni Rae Brotons, Resident Director 

Toni Rae has been acting in the DC area since 1999. Prior to that, she was a two-year company member with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Previous credits include Romeo & Juliet (Nurse), Measure for Measure (Lucio), and Julius Caesar (Calphurnia), Taffety Punk Theatre Company; Mulan (Mushu) and Junie B. Jones and A Little Monkey Business (Lucille/Mom--Helen Hayes Nomination), Imagination Stage; Homokay's Medea (Medea), Venus Theatre, The Spitfire Grill (Percy), Theater Alliance; Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Mrs. Bucket), The Kennedy Center Theatre for Young Audiences; One Good Marriage (Steph), MetroStage; Imagination Stage, Man of LaMancha (Aldonza), Keegan Theatre, and The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window (Iris), The American Century Theater. Toni holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from Miami University and is still trying to find time to create her one-woman cabaret.

Christina Frank

Christina Frank, Development Director


Christina Frank has most recently been seen playing Mark Antony in Maryland Shakspeare Festival's Production of Juluis Caesar. Other local credits include Gay Accept Me If You Love Me, Spotlight Communicaciones, Maryland Shakspeare Festival's Bare Bard Productions of Alls Well that Ends Well, Titus Androniucs, Much Ado About Nothing, and Measure For Measure. Other area shows you may have seen her in include:  Macbeth, Push/Pull Theatre; Tales of Love and Sausage, Faction of Fools; Talk Radio, Stoyka Theatre, A Circus Play, Four Rivers Theatre, Monkey's of Danyang, Synetic Family Productions, and is a director of the Teens N Tweens Program at Encore Stage and Studio in Arlington. Christina holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Iowa.
